A guide to the welfare and wellbeing of working donkeys in the villages close to Ierapetra.

The aim of this website is to raise awareness of the donkeys that are still relied on for working in some of the villages of Crete.

Although numbers of working donkeys in South East Crete are dwindling, there are still a number in use and these donkeys and donkey owners need assistance in keeping fit and healthy.

Through our contact with the equine division of the Greek Animal Welfare Fund, we have got to know a number of donkey owners in the area and seen the problems that they face.
